Our Story
Kainaz and Firoza were influenced and ignited by their late father’s life-long passion for beautiful crafts to celebrate artful embroidery that would otherwise be lost in the corridors of time. They strive to breathe life into soulful design forms of Parsi Gara & Zardozi.
The sister duo was inspired to quit their successful corporate careers and venture into the world of handicrafts when they crossed paths with a home-based bag maker. Herself a master of the Bead and Gara craft, she generously opened her world of knowhow, techniques and the artisan cluster, marking the beginnings of Jophiel®TM.
The loving energy of divinity is expressed through the many subtle moments of life – inspiration in the words of a song, gentle love through the words of a friend and generous gestures by people we run into. For Kainaz & Firoza, their mentor proved to be one such force. Now they intend to craft unique items brushed by the divine beauty of Jophiel®TM, making the user feel loved and the maker feel cherished.
The Gara & Zardozi cottage industry is in peril. Many stitches, techniques and designs will be lost forever unless consistent efforts for revival and growth are undertaken. The artisans pass down these generational art forms as family secrets. Over time, as demand for handmade dried up, younger generations moved to cities for better livelihoods. Today these traditional heritage crafts stand the threat of dying forever, taking with them the artisans knowledge, skill and trade secrets. Without rich patronage, these crafts will not survive. And this is where the angelic love of Jophiel®TM intends to reach out and celebrate the artisans, stoke the senses of the users and stir beautiful experiences for any life it brushes past.
